The cheetah was actually the first predator I saw on my very first safari, in the Masai Mara of Kenya in 1997, part of 6-week overland trip down to Zimbabwe. In fact that sighting was the only time I have yet to see cheetah cubs, two of them with their mother. Since then, I've had three good sightings - in the Serengetti of Tanzania we happened on a pair of young males just after they had taken down a small impala, three beautiful brothers in the Linyanti Swamp of Botswana, and in Madikwe Game Reserve in northern South Africa.

Unfortunately, to date, one of the classic symbols of Africa, a cheetah in full flight pursuing a fleeing prey, has eluded me. But one of these days...

Wonderful pictures!!---I am doing some wildlife drawings in colored pencil and am currently working on a cheetah--your photos have been very helpful ---so that I can see detail. I would like to inquire on how I might purchase some photos for drawing permission only.
